Where centuries of spiritual tradition meet the energy of modern electronic music. Qalandar reimagines one of South Asia's most powerful musical influences through contemporary House production, creating a record that celebrates both heritage and innovation.
Ancient Spirit. Modern Energy.
Every culture has music that survives generations. Some songs are remembered because they entertain. Others endure because they carry history. Qalandar belongs to the second tradition.
Prem G envisioned a record that could introduce the emotion, spirituality, and cultural richness of Sufi music to a new generation of electronic music listeners around the world. Instead of recreating tradition, the goal was to respectfully reinterpret it.
The result is a unique fusion of authentic South Asian vocals, underground House grooves, Afro House-inspired percussion, cinematic production, and modern electronic sound design.
Featuring legendary vocalist Naeem Abbas Rufi alongside Narodha Malni, the record creates a dialogue between generations, cultures, and musical worlds. Rather than choosing between tradition and innovation, Qalandar allows both to exist together.
It is music designed equally for reflection, celebration, and the dancefloor.

A Cinematic Meeting of Two Worlds
The official music video mirrors the philosophy behind the record. Traditional symbolism, cultural identity, and modern visual storytelling combine to create an immersive experience that reflects the fusion heard throughout the music.
Every frame celebrates movement, rhythm, and spirituality while embracing contemporary electronic aesthetics. Rather than illustrating one narrative, the visuals invite every listener to interpret the journey through their own perspective.

Building a Bridge Between Cultures
The production began with a question: How can traditional South Asian music be introduced to modern electronic audiences without losing its authenticity?
Instead of treating traditional vocals as samples, they became the emotional foundation of the record. Electronic production was built around the performances rather than over them.
Every drum pattern, synth layer, transition, and arrangement decision was carefully shaped to respect the original musical traditions while introducing a contemporary club energy.
The result is a record that feels equally at home during cultural celebrations, music festivals, and late-night dancefloors.
